Lockdown Baking – 3 Yorkshire Pudding Sweet Treats
As the nation goes into its 1̶,̶0̶0̶0̶t̶h̶ 7th week of lockdown, we’re all looking for new ways to stimulate our brains and pass the time. It feels like everyone has turned to baking, and with this in mind, we’ve got 3 Yorkshire-pudding based recipes for sweet treats, that we can almost guarantee you’ve never tried before!
1. Pud Brownies
Now we know there’s a million different brownie recipes out there, but none of them are perfect. Why? Because none of them incorporate Yorkshire puddings. To make the perfect brownie, it has to be encased in a beautiful, golden brown Yorkshire.
To do this, make up some chocolate brownies using your favourite recipe, blend them after they’re cooked until they resemble crumbly pieces of cake, then mix in some chocolate frosting. Spoon that mixture into your freshly baked Yorkshire puddings, and you’ve got yourself a set of cake pop-esque gooey brownie Yorkshires!
2. Strawberry Cheesepud
Strawberry cheesecake is great as it is, but we believe we can make it that bit better. Imagine biting into a Yorkshire filled with fluffy strawberry cheesecake cream. We’re drooling at merely the sound of it. 😍
Whip up some cheesecake filling like this beautiful one we found, pipe it into a baked Yorkshire pud and leave it to set in the fridge. It’s the perfect dessert for after a proper Sunday roast.
3. Sticky Toffee Pud
It’s a dessert that some people would only associate with Christmas, but it really is the hidden gem of the dessert world. It’s warm, homely and smells divine (much like a Yorkshire pudding actually). Mixing it up with a Yorkshire pudding is truly unheard of, but you should definitely try it.
Make your own by baking your sticky toffee pudding cake mix in a cupcake tin. Once you’ve baked the cake, drop it into a freshly cooked gluten free Yorkshire pudding. To finish, top it with some extra toffee sauce, because whatever people may say, you can never have enough!
