Where Are Yorkshire’s Best Pubs For A Romantic Sunday Lunch?

News

Picture this: You’re out exploring the Yorkshire Dales with your partner, when it suddenly hits you. You’ve forgotten to make a reservation for Valentine’s Day (uh oh you’re in trouble).

Not to worry, we have our guide to the best roast dinners in Yorkshire! Use as you wish, but with one exception – we have to tag along too. Did somebody say third wheel? 😏

The Gamekeeper’s Inn,

Long Ashes Park, Threshfield, Skipton, BD23 5PN.

We’re starting off strong with The Gamekeeper’s Inn, a quaint location hidden away inside the Long Ashes Park. This pub provides a hearty Sunday roast every weekend, so no excuses for forgetting to book a romantic Sunday roast dinner!

Choose from roast beef, chicken, pork, gammon or a nut roast and rest assured that it’s all served with roast potatoes, seasonal veg, heaps of gravy and the main event Yorkshire puddings 🤤

The Whippet Inn,

15 North Street, York YO1 6JD

The Whippet Inn creates a home away from home date night atmosphere, where you can relax and enjoy a Sunday dinner. The Whippet Inn is also known as York’s best-kept secret 🤐

The Sunday menu may be set, however they still have a wide range of choices and are proud to be known as the home of “the greatest Sunday roast in York”. The roast peppered beef served with Yorkshire puds and ale gravy is a fan favourite. Good scran if you ask us 💁‍♀️

The Rattle Owl,

104 Micklegate, York YO1 6JX

The Rattle Owl is a relaxed dining restaurant, located on one of the city’s most historic streets. The perfect dinner date setting after a day of exploring the York high street.

You can’t go to York without trying their roast mutton rump served with apricot chutney, confit neck and mint fritter, roast potatoes and of course Yorkshire puddings. A different spin on the traditional roast, but definitely a 10/10 👏

The Tan Hill Inn,

Long Causeway, Richmond, DL11 6ED

With its exposed beams, stone-flagged floor and inviting fire, The Tan Hill Inn dates back to the 17th century and is situated high in the Yorkshire Dales.

On Sundays you can choose from a variety of meats, a nut roast, and the toad in the holes sister, the Yorkshire pud wrap 😍 Served with all the trimmings and plenty of gravy, obviously.

If that wasn’t enough, the pub even has private dining domes with views across the stunning Dales. Where you can make the experience even more memorable and romantic 💛

Dalesman Country Inn,

Main St, Sedbergh, LA10 5BN.

Last but certainly not least, The Dalesman is located in the heart of the Cumbrian dales, making it the perfect pit-stop on a romantic day out.

Every Sunday, you are able to choose from roast galloway beef, leg of rough fall lamb or butternut squash nut roast – served with all the trimmings (yes that includes Yorkshire puds and heaps of gravy) 🤤

If you’re not too tired from all that food, we recommend you and your partner take a romantic stroll along the River Rawthey to the shops, where you can browse the town’s many bookshops 📚

We hope we have inspired (and saved) your Valentine’s date plans this year. Let us know where your favourite romantic Sunday dinner spot is in Yorkshire and don’t forget to tag us in your food photos on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
